August 31, 2023 I Dare Anyone To Suspend Me From PDP – Wike

Nyesom Wike, the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has taken a bold stance in response to his party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP). In a recent interview on Channels Television's Politics Today program, Wike dared his party's leadership to take disciplinary action against him or even suspend him.

This bold statement comes in the wake of Wike's recent appointment as the FCT Minister by President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Wike, a former governor of Rivers State and a member of the opposition PDP faced criticism and scrutiny for accepting a ministerial role in the APC-led administration.

Addressing the criticism, he has received, Wike clarified that he had informed the PDP leadership prior to accepting the ministerial offer extended by President Tinubu. He emphasized that he had taken the step with full transparency, ensuring that the PDP leadership was aware of his decision.

Despite the speculation about potential consequences from the PDP, Wike expressed confidence that no party chieftain would take the step to suspend him from the party. When asked if he feared the possibility of expulsion or disciplinary action, Wike responded with conviction, questioning the legitimacy of anyone within the party who would contemplate such actions.

In his response, Wike stated, "Who is the party? Who are the PDP people? How can anybody talk about expelling me? A state that brought a governor, a state that brought three senators, a state that produced 32 members out of 32 House of Assembly and 11 out of 13 House of Reps."

He went on to assert that those who couldn't achieve similar electoral successes in their own domains are not in a position to determine his party loyalty. He highlighted his significant contributions to the PDP, showcasing the weight of his political influence.

With an air of confidence, Wike challenged the legitimacy of those who would question his party commitment. He even suggested that if any action were to be taken, it should be against those who might have violated the party's constitution.

Wike's unwavering stance and willingness to openly challenge his party's leadership have ignited discussions about party loyalty and the complex dynamics of Nigerian politics. His assertion underscores his belief in the importance of his contributions to the PDP and the broader political landscape.
