Millions of Naira worth of goods were lost in a devastating fire that broke out early Wednesday morning, engulfing several shops in the Nanadi Azikwe and Docemo sections of Idumota Market, located in Lagos State.

The blaze ravaged three buildings, comprising two two-story structures and one three-story building within the market renowned for its array of clothing, bags, and shoes.

Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate firefighting operations.

Margaret Adeseye, the head of the Fire Service, confirmed the deployment of resources from fire stations at Ebute Elefun, Ilupeju, and Alausa to effectively combat the inferno. She emphasized that investigations into the cause of the fire were ongoing and urged residents to cooperate with emergency personnel, advising them to steer clear of the area for their safety.

As of now, casualties have not been confirmed, and efforts to contain the blaze are ongoing.
