November 8, 2022 Etebo, Aribo Set To Return

Our reporter has reliable information that midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo will soon be called up to the Super Eagles team for the next friendly match against Portugal in Lisbon.

Due to his lack of activity at club level, Etebo did not participate in the friendly match against Algeria in September. He last played and scored in the Eagles' record 10-0 victory against Sao Tome & Principe in June.

The 26-year-old, who had trouble with Stoke City and Watford in England, has since resolved his club career, and he is currently regularly playing first-team football for the Greek club Aris Saloniki.

Joe Aribo, a midfielder for Southampton who requested a leave of absence following the Eagles' 2-1 defeat to Algeria in September, is anticipated to join the Olympic bronze medalist, who has 44 caps and three goals for his country.

Ebube Duru, a left defender for Rivers United, and Victor Sochima, a goalkeeper, were also informed that they will be playing in the high-profile friendly.

Barring a last-minute injury, the Eagles' assault will be spearheaded by Victor Osimhen of Napoli, who is currently in excellent form. Other likely players are Alex Iwobi, captain Ahmed Musa, William Troost-Ekong, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, and Wilfred Ndidi.

A list of players for the next international friendly against Portugal has been put up by Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, according to Mohammed Sanusi, the general secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation.

On November 17, we will play a friendly match in Lisbon versus Portugal.

"Peseiro has created a tentative list and will only submit his 23-player roster after this weekend's games. Our connection with the coach is friendly. He is doing his duties and concentrating on his goals.

Since taking over the squad in May, the Portuguese coach has only had two victories to his name.
