November 10, 2023 DSS Cautions Against Making Inflammatory Statements

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned individuals against making inflammatory statements and false narratives that can cause division and animosity among Nigerians.

The DSS made this known in a statement by its Director, Public Relations and Strategic Communications Peter Afunanya, as the country prepare for the governorship elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States on Saturday.

Afunanya noted that such statements run against public peace and harmony urging key players and their supporters in Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa States to conform to the rules of engagement.

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters has issued a stern warning to gunmen planning to disguise in military wears to cause violence during Saturday’s off-cycle elections.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, warned that there would be injurious consequences for their actions.

He issued the warning while briefing journalists on military operations to counter threats of terrorists, bandits/kidnappers, oil theft perpetrators and other forms of insecurity across the country.
