October 31, 2023 Court Adjourns Case Seeking Uzodinma’s Sack

The Supreme Court has rescheduled the hearing for the application filed by the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which seeks to remove Hope Uzodinma from his position as the governor of Imo State. The new date for the hearing is December 5.

Originally, the apex court had set October 31, 2023, as the date for commencing the hearing on this matter. APGA applied in 2020, arguing that there should have been a fresh election in Imo State after the Supreme Court nullified the election of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Emeka Ihedioha.

APGA contended that the Supreme Court did not rule on the validity of Uzodinma's candidacy, as Ihedioha and the PDP did not challenge it in the appeal marked SC/1462/2019.

After three years since the application was initially filed, the Supreme Court finally scheduled the hearing for Tuesday. However, when journalists arrived at the Supreme Court on that day, they discovered that the case was not listed on the court's cause list.

One of the Supreme Court registrars informed the journalists that the case had been moved to December 5.

No specific reasons were provided for the postponement of the case.
