January 29, 2024 Cops Who Asked Lagos Motorist For Tinted Glass Permit Identified

The Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that it has identified the three officers involved in stopping a motorist in Lagos to demand his tinted glass permit despite not presenting their ID cards or wearing uniforms. ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Police Public Officer, confirmed this development on his verified X handle, @princemoye1, on Sunday.

In response to a video posted by an X user (@emmCee_RNB), Adejobi mentioned that the officers have been traced to Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos State. He further informed me that the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Zone 2 is currently investigating the matter.

Recalling the incident, the X user narrated how three individuals claiming to be police officers from Zone 2 stopped him on Victoria Island. The men, dressed in mufti and driving a bus without a number plate, ordered him to enter their vehicle. When the motorist requested to see their identification cards before complying, the officers failed to produce any.

The X user, who identified himself as a journalist, reported that the men eventually left after he refused to come down from his car. He expressed surprise that the individuals lacked identification, raising doubts about their authenticity as undercover police officers from Zone 2 on Victoria Island.

The ongoing investigation by AIG Zone 2 aims to shed light on the incident and determine the legitimacy of the individuals involved in the encounter.
