Motorists and passengers traversing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have expressed their distress over the surge in 'one-chance' robbery incidents plaguing the Mowe/Ibafo-Berger stretch of the road.

During interviews conducted over the weekend, several passengers voiced their concerns, stating that the road has become increasingly perilous due to the activities of 'one-chance' criminals.

Sarah Oladele, a teacher, shared her apprehension, revealing that she refrains from venturing out past 7 pm for fear of encountering danger. She emphasized the importance of safety for herself and her loved ones, urging divine protection.

Similarly, Rebecca, a hawker, admitted to continuing to use the road out of necessity despite the growing menace of 'one-chance' robberies. She recounted incidents involving acquaintances who fell victim to such crimes, highlighting the alarming frequency of attacks.

Kamoru Babajide, a bus driver, disclosed his cautious approach to passenger selection, limiting the number of male passengers in his minibus to mitigate the risk of 'one-chance' robberies. He acknowledged the widespread concern among commuters and drivers alike.

A.Y., a victim of 'one-chance' robbery, recounted his harrowing experience of being held at gunpoint during a journey from Ibafo to Berger. He described the traumatic ordeal of relinquishing his belongings under duress before being forcibly ejected from the vehicle.

In response to inquiries regarding measures taken by the Ogun State Command to address the situation, SP Omolola Odutola, the state police public relations officer, assured the public of intensified patrols led by designated DPOs in the Mowe, Ibafo, Redeem, and Sagamu areas. She pledged prompt investigation of reported incidents and prosecution of perpetrators to ensure public safety.
