Actress Stella Damascus pays tribute to late husband of 16 years

Nigerian Actress Stella Damascus remembers her late husband and father of her two children. Jaiye Aboderin died 16 years ago.

The movie star took to her Instagram page on Thursday, December 3, 2020, where she paid tribute to her late husband.

She wrote: “It’s been 16 years since we lost my hubby JAIYEJEJE ABODERIN. Still feels like yesterday. I wasn’t sure I could bring myself to write this but I need to. Our daughters are 21 and 18 now, all grown up,”

“They decided to do something different this year to honor him. We all miss him and talk about him daily. Jay is not the kind of man that you forget. I smile each time I remember or talk about him because that’s what he represented to all who knew him. He brought joy, happiness, comfort and support to all.”

“I cry sometimes because I wish he could have spent more time with us. But God knows best. Anyone who has lost a spouse will understand what I mean. JAY will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on. No matter where we go or who we become, he will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace Obim. #RIP #jaiyejejeAboderin.”

Damasus and Aboderin got married in 1999.

The couple had two daughters before Jaiye died suddenly in 2004.

Boko Haram insurgency: Retired generals, NEF, others warn against hiring mercenaries

The calls by Borno state Governor, BABAGANA ZULUM and some Senators on the federal government to hire mercenaries to clear the remnant of Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East have been attracting reactions.

This is because some retired generals and socio-political groups have faulted the call saying the country is capable of defending itself.

The recent brutal killings of 43 rice farmers at Kwashebe village in Borno State necessitate the call.

A former Chief of Defence Staff, JOSHUA DOGONYARO and a former General Officer Commanding, 1 Division, Major General ABIODUN ROLE in an interview said what the military needed was ammunitions to execute the war.

According to them, the military also required support of the citizens including the media, to help in the asymmetrical war.

Also, socio-political groups, including the Northern Elders’ Forum, and the Coalition of Northern Groups, have also kicked against faulted move.

Ronaldo scores 750th career goal

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 750th career goal as Juventus eased to victory against Dynamo Kyiv in a match refereed by Stephanie Frappart, who became the first woman to take charge of a men’s Champions League fixture.

The Portuguese forward scored the second for the Italian champions, already through to the last 16, when he tapped in after Georgi Bushchan’s attempted block rebounded off Juve striker Alvaro Morata.

Ronaldo was a made to wait a few seconds before the VAR team signalled to the French referee the goal would stand.

Juve took the lead in the 21st minute when loan signing Federico Chiesa scored his first for the club, with a header from Alex Sandro’s cross.

After Ronaldo added a second, Morata made it 3-0 when he slotted home his sixth Champions League goal of the season following good work from Weston McKennie and Chiesa on the right.

Juventus are at Barcelona in their final Group G match next week, with both sides vying to finish top of the pool.

#GOtvxLaycon: Laycon welcomed cheerfully by Abeokuta clan

The quiet town of Abeokuta came alive last week Thursday and Friday, November 26th & 27th when BBNaija S5 winner and GOtv Nigeria brand ambassador, Laycon, made his first stop on his GOtv Iconic tour.

The two day event started with media rounds and town storms where Laycon met up with his fans in the city in areas such as the popular Kuto garage and market, the bustling Oke Ilewo street and Sapon market. He also made a quick stop at the ‘amala halaga’ joint in Pansheke where he thanked the locals for their support during his time in the BBNaija house.

The city of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun state, also happens to be the hometown of the icon so it was a homecoming of some sorts for him. He took the time to take pictures and talk with the people.

On Friday, a special meet and greet with fans and GOtv customers at the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential Library was organized where he talked about the GOtv Jolli offer and content line-up this festive season.

The GOtv Jolli offer gives new customers on GOtv a decoder, GOtennae and 1-month GOtv Jolli subscription for only N8,400. Customers can get this offer at any MultiChoice office or dealer outlet nationwide.
