Jay Jay Okocha Names Messi the Greatest Footballer of All Time

Nigerian football legend Jay Jay Okocha has weighed in on the ongoing debate about who is the greatest footballer of all time—Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. For nearly two decades, the two have dominated discussions about football greatness, amassing a combined 13 Ballon d'Or awards—Messi with eight and Ronaldo with five.

In a recent interview, Okocha praised both players but ultimately chose Messi as his personal favorite. He said, "They are both GOATs, but my personal GOAT is Messi because he looks more natural to me."

Okocha, who enjoyed a dazzling career from 1990 to 2012, became famous for his incredible skills, particularly during his time with Bolton Wanderers in England, where he earned the nickname “so good they named him twice.” His endorsement of Messi adds to the long-standing debate, joining opinions from other football legends like Paul Scholes, who also considers Messi to have an edge over Ronaldo.

Marseille Set to Sign Adrien Rabiot After Reaching Agreement in Principle

Marseille has reached an agreement in principle with French midfielder Adrien Rabiot, paving the way for him to join the club.

The nine-time French champions confirmed, “The player will join OM pending the results of a medical,” on Sunday.

Rabiot, 29, became a free agent after opting not to renew his contract with Juventus, where he spent five seasons.

Previously, Rabiot played for Paris Saint-Germain, Marseille’s fierce rival. Born in the Val-de-Marne region of Paris, he joined PSG’s academy at 15.

With 48 caps for France, Rabiot also featured in Euro 2024, where France was eliminated by Spain in the semifinals.

While specific contract details were not disclosed, reports suggest Rabiot is expected to sign a two-year deal with Marseille.

Canelo Alvarez Dominates Berlanga to Retain Super-Middleweight Titles

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez solidified his status as the unified super-middleweight world champion with a commanding unanimous decision victory over Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night.

In front of more than 20,000 fans at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Mexican superstar knocked Berlanga down in the third round and controlled the fight from start to finish. The victory marked Alvarez’s fifth consecutive win and came as part of Mexico’s Independence Day celebrations.

The judges scored the bout 118-109 twice and 117-110, all in favor of Alvarez, allowing him to retain his WBA, WBC, and WBO titles. Alvarez, now 34, improved his record to 62-2-2, while the previously undefeated Berlanga, 27, suffered his first career loss, bringing his record to 22-1.

“I performed well,” Alvarez said after the fight. “People used to say I fought older opponents, but now I’ve faced younger ones. They always have something to say. But I’m the best fighter in the world, and it’s an honor to represent my country.”

Alvarez’s victory came after he opted to fight Berlanga rather than IBF mandatory challenger William Scull, a decision that led to him being stripped of the IBF title in July.

From the outset, Alvarez pressured Berlanga, landing a sharp right in the third round followed by a powerful left hook that sent his opponent to the canvas. Throughout the fight, Alvarez continued to punish Berlanga with vicious body shots and a hard right in the ninth round that shook the challenger.

Berlanga remained defiant, even taunting Alvarez as the 12th round began, but was unable to find the knockout punch he had predicted.
