EFCC Arraigns P-Square’s Ex-Manager Jude Okoye Over Alleged ₦1.3bn Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of Paul and Peter Okoye of the defunct music group P-Square, on charges of money laundering involving ₦1.38 billion, $1 million, and £34,537.59.

Jude was arraigned alongside his company, Northside Music Ltd, before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos on a seven-count charge.

One of the charges stated that in 2022, Jude and his company allegedly acquired a property at No. 5 Tony Eromosele Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, worth ₦850 million, knowing or reasonably suspecting that the money used was proceeds of an unlawful act. This, according to the EFCC, violates Section 18 (2)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Another count alleged that Jude and Northside Music Ltd used a bureau de change to convert $1,019,762.87 from an account domiciled in Access Bank Plc to naira and remitted it into various accounts to conceal its source, an act that contravenes Section 18 (2)(a) of the same Act.

Jude pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Following his plea, the EFCC’s counsel, Larry Peters Aso, requested a trial date and asked for the defendant to be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial. However, Jude’s lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, informed the court of a pending bail application and requested that his client remain in EFCC custody until the bail hearing.

The prosecution opposed this request, citing congestion at EFCC facilities and urging the court to remand Jude in a correctional facility instead.

Justice Owoeye adjourned the case to February 28 for the bail hearing and April 14 for trial. Meanwhile, he ordered that Jude be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility until the bail decision is made.

Pastor Jerry Eze Shares His Experience Surviving a Plane Crash

The Founder of Streams of Joy International, Pastor Jerry Eze, has shared a powerful testimony of how he and his team survived a plane crash.

During Sunday’s church service, Pastor Jerry, who also leads the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declaration (NSPPD), recounted the terrifying experience that occurred after the NSPPD Prayer Conference in Lagos.

He revealed that before the flight back to Abuja, he felt an unusual restlessness in his spirit and requested to see the pilot. However, feeling exhausted, he decided to pray and proceed with the journey.

“On Saturday morning, after the NSPPD prayer conference in Lagos, we boarded the flight back to Abuja. Before takeoff, I asked the air hostess to let me see the pilot because I felt uneasy,” he recalled. “She asked if I was uncomfortable, and I told her my spirit wasn’t at peace with the pilot.”

Upon landing, the situation took a drastic turn as the plane crash-landed.

“Everything went haywire,” Pastor Eze recounted. “Then suddenly, we heard a loud Gboahhh! They called it a hard landing, some said it was a crash landing—whatever it was, it was terrifying.”

Miraculously, despite the impact, all the passengers emerged unscathed.

“When we stepped out, we saw that all the plane’s tires had burst. But by God’s grace, every one of us walked out safely—nothing missing, nothing broken!” he testified.

Mohbad: ‘I Was Attacked and Accused of Being Naira Marley’s Father’ – Actor Jude Chukwuka

Veteran Nigerian actor Jude Chukwuka has revealed that he was attacked in Lagos following the death of singer Mohbad.

Chukwuka shared that some unidentified men assaulted him, mistakenly believing he was the father of Naira Marley, who had been accused of involvement in Mohbad’s untimely death.

Speaking in a recent interview with Seun Oloketuyi on YouTube, the actor recounted that the incident occurred while he was on a movie set in Ikorodu, Lagos.

He explained, “I understood from the beginning that blaming Naira Marley for Mohbad’s death was an attack on his personality. But some people saw it as an opportunity to gain attention and decided to take advantage of the situation. While filming in Ikorodu, a group of men confronted and attacked me, insisting that my son was responsible for Mohbad’s death.”

Chukwuka said he immediately clarified that he had no relation to Naira Marley, explaining that he hails from Delta State, while Naira Marley is from Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Family Grieves Loss of 13-Year-Old Son Following Social Media Challenge

A Southern California family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of their 13-year-old son, Nnamdi Ohaeri Jr., who they believe died after attempting a dangerous social media challenge. Known as “Deuce” to his loved ones, he was the eldest of four siblings and had a deep passion for music and sports, especially football.

Growing up in a military family in Murrieta, Deuce was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. His father, Nnamdi Ohaeri Sr., described him as a joyful and bright child. On February 2, the family had spent a typical Sunday together, watching the Grammys, where Deuce was excited to see Kendrick Lamar winning multiple awards. However, the following morning, their world was shattered when they found him unresponsive in his room. His mother performed CPR while his father called 911 and sought help from a neighbor, but despite their desperate efforts, Deuce could not be revived.

Initially, it seemed as though Deuce had taken his own life, but his parents struggled to accept that possibility, believing he had too much excitement for the future. As they searched for answers, they learned about a social media trend where children attempt to make themselves pass out. Ohaeri Sr. recalled hearing about similar cases and began to suspect that Deuce might have been influenced by classmates, as he did not have social media accounts and his phone had strict parental controls.

This tragic incident mirrors the dangers of viral social media trends like the “Blackout Challenge,” which has been widely criticized for encouraging users to hold their breath until they lose consciousness. Several child deaths have been linked to this trend, prompting lawsuits against TikTok from grieving families.

Now, Deuce’s parents are left grappling with unanswered questions, wondering if they could have done more to prevent this tragedy. “I’m going through the Rolodex of guilt now, like, ‘Did we check in more? Should I have handled things differently?’” Ohaeri Sr. reflected. Determined to raise awareness, the family is sharing their story as a warning to other parents, emphasizing the need for conversations about the hidden dangers of social media trends. “We talk to our kids about drugs and making good decisions, but we don’t always talk about not following social media trends or games. Maybe we need to,” he said.

Recently, the family held a funeral and celebration of life for Deuce, overwhelmed by the love and support from their community. Through their grief, they hope that by speaking out, they can help prevent another family from experiencing the same devastating loss.
