Senate To Receive List Of Ministerial Nominees From President Buhari For Consideration And Approval.

The much expected list of Ministerial nominees will get to the senate this week for consideration and approval.

 

Senate President, AHMAD LAWANwho stated this at plenary said that the executive arm of government was working hard to ensure that the list was ready early enough before the senators proceed on their annual two-month recess

 

AHMAD LAWANwas reacting to a point of order raised by Senator BASSEY AKPAN to the effect that the delay in the submission of the list could affect the holidays of the senators.

 

He however, assured his colleagues and Nigerians that President BUHARI would send the list to the Senate before the week runs out.

Senate Proposes Stiffer Penalty For Perpetrators Of Child Rape

Worried by the incessant cases of child rape across the country, the Senate has moved to frame laws that would make perpetrators face capital punishment.

 

Moving the motion on Order 42 and 52 of Senate rules, Senator ROSE OKO representing Cross River North Senatorial district explained that victims of child rape have been on the increase, a situation she said was worrisome, urging the upper chamber to intervene.

 

Other senators said those indulging in child abuse deserve death penalty.

 

Adopting the motion, Senate President, AHMAD LAWAN upheld the prayers and the review of all relevant laws that would ensure capital punishment for offenders of child abuse.

MELE KYARI has officially taken over as the new Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

 

During the handing over ceremony at the at the NNPC Towers in Garki, Abuja, the outgoing GMD, MAIKANTI BARU thankedPresident BUHARI for the opportunity to serve and smooth transition in the NNPC.

 

In his remarks, KYARI promised to restore all four refineries in the country before the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023.

 

The new NNPC boss also promised to raise oil production level to three million barrels a day from 2.3 million barrels achieved by his predecessor, and also to grow our reserve to at least 40 million barrels.
