Nigerians continue to express concern over the recent criminal spike in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); the authorities have been upping their game to halt the disturbing trend.

With the kidnapping of the Al-Kadiriyah sisters, their father, and others in the metropolis, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, set up a Special Intervention Squad to rout out kidnappers, bandits, and other criminals that have terrorised the nation’s capital for a while now.

Though Nabeenah Al-Kadiriyah was killed and her remaining five sisters released, the IGP Special Intervention Squad is still working to smoke out all criminal elements in Abuja.

Speaking after a patrol of some routes in the FCT, the Head of the IGP Special Intervention Squad, who doubles as the FCT Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Igwe, said the squad is making inroads into decimating bandits and their camps in the city.
