August 17, 2022 Actor Moses Armstrong Cries Out- ‘I Did Not Rape Anybody’

Actor Moses Armstrong from Nollywood has refuted the rape accusations made against him. On August 16, 2022, the troubled movie star announced this on his Facebook page.

"Nothing Pass God. If you believe, you will receive. Nothing Pass God. I did not rape nobody. I don't rape...I have never raped...And I will never rape. I'm back stronger and better...I'm happy I went to prison, God went with me," he wrote.

"The experience is awesome. You will hear it soon. Blessings to all of you Angels that believed in me. Love you all deeply. #ONELOVE #AkwaIbomFinest."

In June, men from the Akwa Ibom State Police Command detained Armstrong on suspicion of defiling a 16-year-old girl.

When the news of his detention broke, Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, called the situation "extremely serious."

"To get involved with a child as young as 16yrs is not something I and the association I do not represent, would not stand for. This is a very sad development involving a member of ours, but I wouldn’t want to comment any further on this case," he said.

According to Rollas, Martha Udom Emmanuel, the first lady of Akwa Ibom State, is handling the issue as part of her Family Empowerment and Youth Re-Orientation Path Initiative.

He separated the Guild from the heinous deed.

He was then accused of providing abortion pills and of raping a minor.

The four accusations were read to Armstrong on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 in a State High Court session in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, according to Premium Times.

His attorney Emmanuel Pantaleon requested permission from the court to proceed with the consideration of his client's bail application, which was submitted on behalf of him on July 25.

In opposition to the bail application, the prosecution's I.U. Robert, an associate state counsel, cited pertinent legal authorities and asked the court to reject the motion, which he described as a "abuse of court procedure."

After hearing arguments from both attorneys, the judge, Ntong Ntong, supported the defense attorney's request and granted Mr. Armstrong bail in the amount of N5 million.
