In a recent conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, veteran actor Pete Edochie opened up about a significant moment early in his career.

He shared how he received an offer of ₦50,000 for his debut movie role, marking a pivotal step in his path to becoming a Nollywood legend.

Edochie recounted, "I was sitting in the parlour with my wife when someone from Lagos handed me a check for fifty thousand to create a film."

This unexpected offer arrived at a critical juncture for him. He had just lost his broadcasting job due to undisclosed religious differences and internal matters. With his broadcasting career at a crossroads, Edochie found himself contemplating a new direction.

The substantial amount, coupled with his wife's unwavering support, played a decisive role in his choice to embrace acting as his true passion.

"I confided in my wife that my broadcasting days were over. She embraced me, offered a celebratory beer, and uttered, 'Pete, your desire to become an actor has finally arrived.' At that point, I was earning a monthly salary of ₦9000 as a director."

Prior to bidding adieu to his broadcasting position, Edochie had already left a mark by portraying the lead role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) adaptation of Chinua Achebe's acclaimed novel, "Things Fall Apart."

His depiction garnered international recognition, even prompting the BBC to journey to Nigeria for an exclusive interview highlighting his role in the project.

From that turning point, Edochie's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. With a filmography boasting over 100 Nollywood movies, he has solidified his status as an icon in the industry.

Along the way, he has garnered numerous national and international awards, elevating him to a revered position in the world of cinema.

In the video, Ini initially tried to deny crying on set, but Jim insisted that she had broken down due to his angry outburst. He also noted that, despite her tough public persona, she has a soft personality.

He said, "Listen I was doing my thing, directing this scene and one of my favorite people in the whole world wasn’t acting right and I had to yell at her. Curse her out, and I told her you are a superstar in the world I am your big brother, you can’t fuck with me. I yelled at her she was crying like 5mins ago. She is so soft, but you know I love you."

The comment section is buzzing with praise for the actor-turned-director's work ethic, while many also admire the friendship between the duo for handling professional comments without allowing them to cause a strain on their relationship.
