The federal government has said that the Madagascar herbal drug for COVID-19 was sent to Nigeria at no cost.

Chairman of the Presidential Task Force, BOSS MUSTAPHA, gave this clarification yesterday at the daily briefing by the Task Force in Abuja.

He also said the reopening of the economy would largely depend on the level of compliance with the guidelines issued for the control of the spread of the pandemic.

The PTF chairman said Nigerians, especially the business sector, must use the period of the extended eased lockdown to prepare ahead of the reopening by adopting a change in attitude in order to contain the spread.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 has said Nigeria did not request for the Madagascar COVID-19 organics herbal cure.

Rather it said that Madagascar voluntarily sent the product to Guinea Bissau for the benefit of every country domiciled in West Africa.

He said the explanation became necessary due to misconception in some quarters that Nigeria ignores efforts to develop homegrown solution to the virus.
