Reactions Trail Death Of OAU Lecturer, Ayo Ojediran, Who Reportedly Slumped And Died In His Office

Reactions have continued to trail the sudden death of a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Dr. Ayo Ojediran, who reportedly slumped and died in his office on Tuesday.

Sources on the campus said the late Dr. Ojediran was rushed to the institution’s clinic immediately he slumped, but he could not make it.

Speaking on the incident, the President, Faculty of Education Students Association of Nigeria, Victor Adesokan, said he was with the deceased lecturer the night before his death, adding that he complained of headache, and appeared very weak.

Adesokan, who complained of inadequate academic personnel in the Faculty, noted that Ojediran’s demise is the fourth death among the lecturers in the Faculty in the outgoing year.

In an interview with Inspiration FM, an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG), Dr. Lawrence Osoba, decried the work load of University lecturers these days.

Dr. Osoba equally said academic staff strength in the university system is grossly inadequate.

Dr Rahman Adedoyin, proprietor of the Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, has been sentenced to death by hanging by Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo.

Previously, Justice Ojo ruled that Adedoyin, the owner of the Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, where Timothy Adegoke, an OAU postgraduate student, was responsible of murder.

According to Justice Ojo’s ongoing judgment, the owner of the hotel and two of his employees, based on the circumstances of the case established by the prosecuting counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, are found culpable of conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful killing of the deceased.

Nigerian music icon 2Face Innocent Idibia has come to his wife Annie's defense following her recent outburst on the reality TV show, Young, Famous and African.

In a post shared via his Instagram Stories on Monday, March 21, 2022, the music star defended the mother of two of his daughters.

Annie had revealed during one of the episodes of the show that she has been subjected to many humiliations and embarrassment and would always question how 2face made the same mistake twice.

"When you meet someone, then you know them first and then you wake up to different people are having babies for him and then he has five different kids with other women, my first child is his fifth and I met him before everybody," she said.

"So you know what that is? You know how many humiliations and embarrassment and damn and I was like… man… How do you repeat the same mistake twice?"

Annie and 2Face got married in May 2012 and they have two daughters, Isabella and Olivia.

2Face Idibia Builds Multimillion Music Studio For OAU Ile-Ife

The institution's administration hailed the musician for his thoughtful gesture.

Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia has built a multimillion music studio for the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.

The music star made this known via his Instagram page on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

"Sometime ago I was honoured by the Great OAU as I was inducted into the school of music as A Fellow Of The School of music,'' he captioned the video of the opening ceremony.

He also revealed plans to build a similar studio at the Benue State University (BSU).

"Today I just commissioned the multimillion # studio I built for the music department in OAU ile-ife. up next is Benue State University #GRATEFUL #WARRIOR."

The musician shared a picture of himself and Eyitope Ogunbodede, OAU’s vice-chancellor after the studio was commissioned.

In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the singer.

Ogunbodede revealed that OAU now has the best recording studio in any Nigerian university, thanks to 2Baba.
