July 15, 2022 Woman Hires Hoodlums To Kidnap Pastor, Demands Ransom

Men from the Ogun State Police Command have detained two suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping of Pastor Mapai Samuel of the Zoe Family International Church in Odo-Eran, Abeokuta.

Ibikunle Opeyemi, a suspected female kidnapper, and Kadiri Jamiu, a suspected male accomplice, were both apprehended on Thursday after police officers at the Aregbe divisional headquarters received a distress call.

Two further suspects wearing military camouflage managed to elude capture, according to a statement released on Thursday by the state police public relations officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.

He explained that although the two suspects were detained on Thursday morning, the operation was carried out by the suspects on Wednesday about 8 p.m.

Oyeyemi claimed that the pastor was forcibly dragged out of the church about 8 p.m. on Wednesday and taken to an unidentified location by two men wearing military camouflage and being accompanied by a woman.

“The DPO and his men, in conjunction with men of the Adigbe division, stormed the hideout, where the pastor was rescued and two of the suspects were arrested, while the two men in military camouflage escaped.

“On interrogation, the woman among them claimed to have been in a business relationship with the pastor, and that the pastor cheated her in the course of the business, which made her to contact the three men to kidnap the pastor in order to teach him a lesson.”

According to the PPRO, Lanre Bankole, the state's commissioner of police, had ordered the suspects' immediate transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department's anti-kidnapping section for a covert investigation.
