Grammy award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, is poised to make history as the first African musician to establish his own jewelry line.
In a recent revelation, Wizkid shared that his newly acquired diamond neckpiece, worth millions of naira, is just the beginning of his venture into the world of jewelry.
The talented artist disclosed this exciting news during an appearance on the popular Afrobeats audiovisual podcast hosted by Shopsydoo Adesope.
With great enthusiasm, Wizkid expressed that the neckpiece was the inaugural creation of his personal design, signifying the initiation of his jewelry line.
He said, “This [the neckpiece] is actually the first piece that I designed myself. This is the first of six pieces that I’m making this year. And yeah, the start of my jewellery line. So, it’s about to be some exciting stuff going on.”
He further revealed plans to craft a total of six unique pieces this year, offering a glimpse of the captivating journey that lies ahead.
By venturing into jewelry design, Wizkid joins the illustrious ranks of renowned personalities like Rihanna and Pharell Williams, who have successfully established their own jewelry lines.
