West Ham is set to appoint Julen Lopetegui as their new manager later this week. The former Spain and Real Madrid coach was identified as the Hammers’ top choice to replace the outgoing David Moyes and agreed to take on the role earlier this month.

With the Premier League season now over, Lopetegui will sign his contract and begin his tenure in time for pre-season, which includes a two-week tour in the United States with matches against Crystal Palace and Wolves.

Interestingly, Lopetegui managed Wolves during the second half of the 2022-23 season, leading them to safety. However, he left just before the new campaign began due to unresolved issues over transfer funding.

After West Ham’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday, Moyes revealed he has already received job offers but plans to spend some time with his family, having only had three weeks off last summer. Moyes has also agreed to media commitments with BBC Sport and Talksport for this summer’s European Championships.

Lopetegui, who won the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020, brings significant experience from his time with Spain, Real Madrid, and Wolves.
