Afrobeats singer Wande Coal has claimed to be the pioneer of the new sound in Nigerian music. Speaking on his influence in the music industry during an interview, he confidently stated that he inspired the current wave of Afrobeats artists gaining global recognition.

"I am the best at what I do. I am a legend. I brought the new generation sounds and the wave of new artists that’s happening now," Wande Coal asserted. "I’m happy to have done it. Also, I still want to do more. I feel like music never ends. Music is very universal. That is why there are many genres of music."

He emphasized his versatility and willingness to collaborate with new producers, adding, "All these sounds I try to fuse them in my music. Since I came into the industry, I have shown versatility in my songs. That’s why none of my songs sound alike. I also love working with new producers because music never ends."
