American actor Johnny Wactor has been fatally shot in Los Angeles during a robbery. Wactor, known for his role in the soap opera "General Hospital," was mourned by the show's producers early Sunday.
A statement from "General Hospital" read: "The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this time."
Wactor’s mother recounted to journalists that her son was returning to his car after working a side job at a rooftop bar when he discovered three men attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle. Mistaking the theft for his car being towed, Wactor confronted them and was fatally shot by one of the masked men. His mother described his death as "senseless."
Paramedics arrived at 3 a.m. and transported Wactor to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Born in 1986, Johnny Wactor was 37 years old and had made appearances in several shows including "Westworld," "General Hospital," and "Criminal Minds," among others.
