Following the aerial bombing in Kaduna State, the United Nations has urged the military to review its rules of engagement.
In a statement by the Public Information Officer, UN Human Rights, Seif Magango, the body expressed disapproval of the attack, noting that it was the latest of at least four airstrikes that have resulted in significant civilian fatalities since 2017.
He called for all feasible steps to prevent future occurrences and to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.
Magango also urged Nigeria to thoroughly and impartially investigate all alleged violations of international human rights and international humanitarian law.
Earlier, President Bola Tinubu ordered an investigation into the incident after the army acknowledged one of its drones mistakenly struck the village.
