Conor McGregor, undisputed myth of mixed martial arts and multiple world champion in the UFC, has been left without ranking.

He is not among the top 15 light-heavyweight contenders. Not since his first fights, back in 2014, has something similar happened and certainly not since he cemented his status as a point of reference in the sport.

The Irishman has found himself in an unusual situation following his two defeats to Dustin Poirier.

McGregor is a fighter who goes to extremes. A histrionic, reviled figure, but also a gifted athlete who competed in the greatest fight of all time against his archrival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

However, failures and his hiatus due to physical decline (he is 34 years old) may have contributed to the dissapearance of the ranking. The ranking is led by Islam Makhachev, who is probably the best in the world – with Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje as the main challengers.
