Tragedy struck on Saturday in the Ikosi Oregun area of Lagos State as two factory workers lost their lives after falling into a diesel reservoir.

According to a statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), initial investigations revealed that one of the workers accidentally fell into the reservoir while on duty.

“The second adult male, in an attempt to rescue the first, also fell into the reservoir,” LASEMA reported.

Both victims were in critical condition and were immediately attended to by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), which provided first aid, including CPR, before rushing them to the hospital.

Sadly, hours later, LASEMA confirmed the deaths of the two men. “The two male adults earlier rescued this morning by the LASEMA Response Team, resuscitated and transported to the hospital, unfortunately, despite all sustained medical efforts, later died,” the agency stated.

The tragic incident has sparked concerns about workplace safety and the need for stricter measures to prevent similar accidents in the future.
