A tragic road accident along the Idiroko-Ota Road in Ogun State has resulted in the loss of two lives and injuries to eight others, according to authorities from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State. The incident occurred on Sunday night, and the FRSC conducted a rescue operation to assist the victims.
Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, provided details of the incident in a statement on Monday. The crash involved a MAN diesel truck with registration number LSR10YD and a Toyota Carina without a visible registration number. The occupants comprised five male adults, four female adults, and one female child.
The collision, which occurred around 20:00hrs, claimed the lives of two individuals and left eight others injured. The injured victims were promptly transported to General Hospital, Idiroko, for medical treatment, while the deceased were taken away by their respective families.
In response to the tragic incident, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Anthony Uga, urged motorists to exercise caution, emphasizing the importance of maintaining clear visibility of 150 to 200 meters at night and practicing controlled speeds, especially when overtaking. The statement serves as a reminder of the critical role responsible driving plays in preventing accidents and safeguarding lives on the roads.
