September 20, 2023 TUC Issues One Week Ultimatum To FG Over Demands

The Trade Union Congress, TUC, says it has given the federal government and President Bola Tinubu seven days to make definite pronouncements on its demands or risk an industrial action.

TUC President Festus Osifo disclosed this on a monitored programme last night, saying the union told the Labour Minister, Simon Lalong, that the congress was tired of holding endless meetings and wanted definite pronouncements from President Bola Tinubu on its demands.

Osifo said they also discussed issues including wage awards for federal civil servants, tax exemption for some categories of workers, and effective implementation of the palliatives from the Federal Government.

The TUC president also spoke about the purported cold war with the NLC, accusing its president, Joe Ajaero, of making unilateral decisions.
