Chelsea have announced that defender Renato Veiga has joined Juventus on a loan deal for the rest of the season.

The club confirmed the move in a statement on their website on Monday, saying: “Chelsea defender Renato Veiga will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Serie A side Juventus. We look forward to supporting his development throughout the loan. Good luck, Renato!”

Veiga, who joined Chelsea from FC Basel last July, has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season. Despite interest from several European clubs, the 21-year-old Portuguese defender chose to make the switch from London to Turin.

With limited playing time under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Veiga decided to move in search of consistent minutes in his preferred position.
