Fashion entrepreneur and celebrity stylist Toyin Lawani has revealed that she is suffering from severe back pain and spinal degeneration, which she believes is a result of epidural anesthesia.
In a heartfelt video shared on social media Tuesday, Lawani spoke about her struggles, claiming she has not felt the same since receiving the injection during childbirth. Epidurals are commonly administered to reduce labor pain, but she accused doctors of not fully disclosing the long-term risks associated with the procedure.
"When you hear ‘epidural,’ run," she warned. "Doctors mention side effects, but they don’t tell you about the lasting damage to your body. I know at least three friends experiencing the same issues as me."
The mother of three disclosed that she had two epidurals during childbirth, while her first delivery was a natural birth. She explained that after her last child, she had no choice but to take an epidural due to surgery.
"I’m just 42—how did I end up with spine issues? My spine is degenerating, I have implants in my back, and sometimes I go paralyzed. I can’t stand for long, I struggle to breathe properly, and the pain never stops," she lamented.
Lawani’s revelation has sparked conversations online, with many women sharing their own experiences with epidural complications.
