Tobi Bakare leads Africa Magic's latest crime drama, 'Slum King.' He portrays Edafe ‘Majemijesu’ Umukoro, an individual haunted by the memory of his family's tragic encounter with armed robbers.
The narrative follows an 11-year-old Edafe, who blames himself for the incident, believing he forgot to lock the front door, allowing the robbers entry. Now grown, Edafe transforms from a troubled slum dweller into 'MAJE,' the charismatic king of the slums, seeking vengeance for his family's devastating loss.
Producer Chinenye Nworah anticipates that the series will shed light on significant issues in urban slums, delving into the traumas that shape individuals' futures and exploring complex love dynamics. Viewers can expect suspense and unpredictable character decisions.
'Slum King' is confirmed to be a 10-part limited drama series offering a deep exploration of psychology, drama, and urban challenges. The series is scheduled for release on October 8, 2023.
