Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State expressed confidence in the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu's administration, asserting that they have positioned Nigeria favourably despite inheriting a nearly paralysed government.
Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, implemented bold economic reforms, including floating the naira and removing fuel subsidies, which led to increased fuel and food costs, causing hardship for Nigerians.
Speaking on a monitored program on Sunday, November 26, 2023, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the challenges but remained optimistic about the long-term benefits of Tinubu's policies.
He commended the administration for its audacity in addressing critical issues and emphasised the necessity of deregulation in a challenging economic climate. Abiodun, recognising the inherited state of the administration, highlighted Tinubu's decisive actions.
Despite the country's economic difficulties, Governor Abiodun expressed confidence in President Tinubu's ability to steer the country in the right direction. Referring to Tinubu's former governor, senator, and accountant background, Abiodun conveyed hope and determination to turn the economy around.
The governor's interview occurred two days after the Appeal Court in Lagos upheld his re-election as the duly elected governor of Ogun State.
