In a heart-stopping incident, three individuals narrowly avoided a catastrophe when a 40ft container plummeted onto a Toyota Corolla in the bustling Ojuelegba area of Lagos State.
The terrifying episode unfolded around 8 p.m. yesterday, sending shockwaves through the community. According to eyewitnesses, the colossal container-laden truck attempted to ascend a bridge when disaster struck.
Losing its balance, the truck careened off the bridge, crashing violently onto the hapless car beneath, identified by its license plate JJJ-811-FV. Quick-thinking bystanders immediately alerted the authorities, prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, detailed the incident in her statement. She disclosed that the victims trapped within the mangled car comprised two adult males and one female. Adeseye's statement underscored the urgency of the rescue operation, stating, "The rescue alert, which was initiated at 20:45 hours on Sunday, saw the Sari Iganmu Rescue Crew of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in collaboration with other State Emergency Responders and compassionate onlookers, successfully extract two adult males and one adult female from the crushed vehicle. Remarkably, the trailer driver and his assistant managed to escape unharmed."
The three fortunate survivors were promptly administered first aid at the accident site before being transported to the Lagos State Accident and Trauma Center for further medical attention. Their condition is currently under close observation.
