June 19, 2023 Spartak Moscow Forward Sentenced To 18 Months In Jail For Stabbing Cousin

Former Netherlands striker Quincy Promes has been handed an 18-month prison sentence for stabbing his cousin in the knee.

The assault occurred during a family gathering in July 2020, and a Dutch court found Promes guilty of the offense.

According to Dutch broadcaster RTL, Promes' lawyer has stated that they will appeal the verdict. Despite living in Russia and not being present at the court hearing, the Spartak Moscow forward now faces legal consequences.

In addition to the stabbing incident, Promes has recently been charged by Dutch prosecutors for his alleged role in drug trafficking, further complicating his legal situation.

Promes, who has represented clubs such as Sevilla and Ajax, will now have to navigate these legal challenges.
