The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) says six of the nine people injured in a fire on the Igbega Eko Vessel at Ipakodo Ferry Terminal on Thursday are being treated at Lagos State General Hospital in Ikorodu. The fire affected nine people total—passengers, LASWA workers, and LagFerry staff—and all are getting medical care and doing much better, according to LASWA’s Public Affairs Unit.
The statement explained: “Six are at General Hospital, Ikorodu, where doctors are keeping a close eye on them to help them recover fully. The other three are stable and being treated at a private hospital. None of their injuries are life-threatening.” LASWA promised to keep working with medical teams to make sure everyone heals completely and said they’re ready to support the victims and their families.
They also said they’re investigating what caused the fire and checking safety measures to stop this from happening again. LASWA thanked emergency responders for acting fast and the public for cooperating during the incident.
