Czech star Katerina Siniakova claimed her 10th Grand Slam women’s doubles title on Sunday, teaming up with American Taylor Townsend to secure the Australian Open crown.
The top-seeded duo, who are also the reigning Wimbledon champions, defeated Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei and Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko in a thrilling three-set battle, winning 6-2, 6-7 (4/7), 6-3 on the iconic Rod Laver Arena.
While this marks Siniakova’s milestone 10th Grand Slam title, it is Townsend’s second major doubles victory, both of which she achieved alongside the world’s top-rated doubles player, Siniakova.
“Big thank you to Taylor,” Siniakova said during the trophy ceremony. “We’re having fun, and that’s the most important thing.”
