Seven people lost their lives, and 11 others were injured in a road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday night. The crash, involving a truck without a registration number and a Mazda bus with registration number MNY 894 YN, occurred at 9:33 pm.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), stated, "The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver, who rammed into a moving truck from the rear." The injured victims were transported to PATMAG Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the deceased were taken to FOS morgue in Ipara.
The FRSC extended its condolences to the victims' families and advised passengers to remain vigilant and correct drivers' mistakes. The Corps also urged motorists to avoid speeding, particularly at night and during rain, due to poor visibility.
