The Senate has commenced screening of the seven new ministerial nominees appointed by President Bola Tinubu last Wednesday. The screening took place in the Senate chamber on Wednesday after an initial postponement on Tuesday.
The process began with Nentawe Yilwatda, nominated to replace Betta Edu as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. The Senate temporarily suspended its rules to allow the ministerial nominees into the chamber.
Other nominees include Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for Minister of State, Foreign Affairs; Maigari Dingyadi for Minister of Labour and Employment; Jumoke Oduwole for Minister of Industry; Idi Maiha for the newly established Ministry of Livestock Development; Yusuf Ata for Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Suwaiba Ahmad for Minister of State, Education.
This follows President Tinubu’s recent reshuffle, in which he dismissed five ministers, reassigned 10 others to different portfolios, and appointed seven new ministers for Senate confirmation.
