July 12, 2021 Security Operatives Engage In Search And Rescue Of Emir Of Kajuru And Others

Operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of the 85-year-old Emir of Kajuru, Alhaji ALHASSAN ADAMU, by bandits in the early hours of Sunday.

The bandits attacked the residence of the monarch in Kajuru, Kajuru Local Government Area of the state, and kidnapped him and 10 of his family members, according to the police.

Spokesman of the state Police command, MOHAMMED JALIGE, said the bandits in large numbers and wielding weapons, gained access into the emir's palace, abducted him and 10 members of his immediate family.

He said the joint patrol of the Police Mobile Force and the Nigerian Army attached to Kajuru are currently engaged in search and rescue mission around the forest for the rescue of the victims.

According to him, the IGP's tactical units have been contacted for technical support.

Eyewitnesses' accounts suggested that the bandits in large number fired shots in the air before proceeding to the Emir's palace and taking him and members of his family away.

A federal lawmaker from the area, YAKUBU UMAR BARDE described the incident as unfortunate and called for improved security network
