Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Sunday praised the outcome of the recently concluded local government election in Rivers State, applauding the electorate for their resolute stand against oppression.
In a highly anticipated election, the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured victories in 22 of the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs), while the Action Alliance (AA) won only in Etche LGA.
Atiku, in his reaction to the results, commended the people of Rivers State for their "steadfastness in the face of adversity," and for their courage in ensuring that the election proceeded peacefully and with integrity.
With the conclusion of the local government election in Rivers State, the shadows of political intimidation and judicial chicanery have dissipated, paving the way for the noble pursuit of governance to commence in the State.
