Amidst the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has renewed its call for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare a state of emergency. The party emphasized the need for this measure to address the escalating disorder.
During a press conference in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Chief Tony Okocha, the caretaker chairman (CTC) of the party, urged the deployment of armed soldiers to key locations across the state to prevent a breakdown of law and order. Okocha highlighted clear signs of lawlessness driven by non-state actors, warning that failure to act promptly could lead to uncontrollable chaos.
Additionally, Okocha clarified that the controversial Law No. 2 of 2024 was not intended to extend the tenure of the outgoing chairmen but was meant for future considerations.
