February 11, 2021 Rihanna’s luxury Fashion House Has Been Discontinued After Two Years

Rihanna's clothing line, "Fenty Fashion House," is being suspended indefinitely, luxury conglomerate LVMH announced today. LVMH confirmed the development exclusively to WWD via a brief statement saying: “Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the ready-to-wear activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions.”

The fashion line which was launched in 2019 made history being the first luxury brand run by a black woman. It was also only the second luxury fashion house started from scratch by the French conglomerate LVMH – after Christian Lacroix. In 2014, she became the creative director of Puma and has also created collections for British store River Island.

The shuttering of the fashion arm of Fenty will not affect its side projects, the lingerie arm Savage X Fenty and Fenty Skin, which are both considered success in their field: the former made $108m (£78m) last year and the latter, which is available in Boots, has made £26m in four months, according to WWD.

Fenty’s final collection, a collaboration with the footwear designer Amina Muaddi, was in November last year and its last Instagram post was on 1 January.
