Afrobeats artist Reekado Banks has moved to clear the air following widespread speculation about a cryptic statement he made, which many fans interpreted as a jab at Mavin Records founder Don Jazzy. In his initial comment, Reekado vowed to unmask someone he accused of repeatedly manipulating and derailing the careers of young, gifted artists.
In a subsequent clarification, Reekado firmly denied that his remarks targeted Don Jazzy, affectionately referring to him as “Baba J.” With a lighthearted tone, he urged fans to put an end to the guesswork and thanked them for their interest, effectively quashing the rumor. Still, Reekado stood by his original intent to call out an unnamed industry figure he alleges is undermining emerging talent.
Reiterating his position, he stated, “It may not be obvious to you all, but I’m definitely not referring to Baba J. Ejo lol, pls n thanks. That said, oloriburuku gbaaaa, ni Eni to mo n so yi!”—promising that the true culprit’s identity will soon come to light.
