June 24, 2022 PVC: Bala Mohammed Declares Monday Work Free Day

In order to allow his constituents to participate in the current continuous voter registration, and get their Permanent Voter Cards, PVC, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed proclaimed Monday a day off from work.

This information may be found in a statement made by Mr. Mukhtar Gidado, the governor's special assistant for media and publicity.

Gidado noted that the state employees' day off from work was intended to allow them to travel to their individual communities to register to vote and acquire their Permanent Voter Cards, PVC.

Mohammed was concerned about the low voter turnout among eligible voters.

”By this, all Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, and other top government functionaries are directed to proceed to their respective electoral wards to mobilise eligible registrants to come out en-mass and register.

The continuing continuous voter registration (CVR) effort will now go an additional 60 days, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The initial registration date set by INEC was June 30.

INEC was prevented from concluding the process on Monday by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Following the hearing of a motion ex parte by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon of Court 10 issued an order of temporary injunction (SERAP).
