January 14, 2019 PRESIDENCY WADES IN ON POLICE INVITATION TO SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE OVER ALLEDGED EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to stop the invitation of Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun state governorship election, to answer charges bordering on examination malpractice.

Sources in the presidency told reporters that President Buhari had ordered the IGP not to go ahead with the invitation of the senator.

There is no official statement yet on the purported presidential order.

The police yesterday summoned Senator Adeleke and four other persons to appear before it immediately for arraignment over allegations of aiding and abetting, impersonation and criminal conspiracy in the alleged examination malpractice.

The Principal of Ojo-Aro Community High School in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State and three others are also to be arraigned for what the police describes as conspiracy with the senator.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, investigations have shown that Senator Adeleke and his brother, Sikiru Adeleke registered for the National Examination Council exam in July 2017 as an internal candidate impersonating students of the school at the ages of 57 and 42 years respectively.
