Power distribution companies have declared that the new electricity tariffs shall become enforceable from April 1, this year.
Â
Speaking through their umbrella body, Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, the Discos explained that the new tariffs ordered by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission would cater for revenue shortfalls in the sector.
Â
In a tariff review clarification notice sent by the spokesperson of ANED, Sunday Oduntan the Discos said the tariffs shall remain as they had been since 2015 but would change from April 2020.
Â
According to him, there will be a slight increment to cater for tariff shortfalls which shall be gradually passed on to the consumer until this is fully completed by the end of 2021.
Â
The Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, James Momoh made this clarification on the issue.
