May 15, 2024 Portable Unable To Meet Bail Requirements, Detained In Police Custody

The Lagos State Police Command has stated that Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, will remain in custody until he can provide a credible surety for his bail. This information was disclosed by the command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

"He has not yet presented a reliable surety, so he (Portable) is still in our custody," Hundeyin stated.

Portable was arrested earlier for allegedly failing to settle a debt of N14 million owed to a car dealer in Lagos, arising from purchasing a G-Wagon.

However, a letter of undertaking signed by Portable has emerged online, indicating that he still owes N14 million for the N27 million G-Wagon. Additionally, voice recordings of the car dealer communicating with Portable have been circulated on the internet.

In the recordings, the dealer requested Portable to return the vehicle or settle the outstanding payment, but Portable refused, citing issues with the car.

As per the agreement, the dealer reportedly has the authority to repossess the car without compensating Portable if he fails to comply.

Prior to his arrest by the police, a video surfaced on social media showing Portable attempting to evade arrest by scaling a fence to escape the policemen. However, he was apprehended by the officers and taken into custody, where he remains due to his inability to meet the bail conditions.
