Street-hop artist Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, regained his freedom after Fuji star Saheed Osupa withdrew a defamation and cyberstalking case against him. The matter was resolved on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, with Osupa’s legal team submitting a withdrawal notice at Upper Area Court 1 in Ilorin, Kwara State. Osupa’s lawyer, Ahmed Opalekunde, said that the decision followed appeals from music industry figures and prominent Nigerians.
The dispute stemmed from Osupa’s petition, accusing Portable of criminal defamation, cyberstalking, intimidation, and inciting unrest over comments made during a March 19 Instagram Live. Portable allegedly said, “Saheed Osupa, you’re big for nothing. If you can’t support me, I’ll drag you. You sing Fuji, I sing hip-hop. I used your line like I took verses from Pasuma, but Pasuma didn’t report me. Stay away if you can’t embrace me like Pasuma did, treating me like his child.” Osupa claimed the remarks harmed his reputation and stirred public unrest, violating the Penal Code, Cybercrimes Act of 2015, and Violence Against Persons Law of 2020.
Portable was arraigned on Monday before Chief Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi at Kwara State High Court, securing N1 million bail with two sureties—one a PMAN chairman and the other a GRA property owner. With Osupa choosing an out-of-court settlement, the case was dropped. The withdrawal letter requested the court to caution Portable against further defamatory actions, stating, “On behalf of our client, we apply to withdraw the case, as it has been settled amicably… We urge the court to warn the defendant against further statements or actions harming the complainant’s reputation or business.”
