The Nigeria Police Force has detained an officer seen in a viral video with Wahab and Raheem, sons of billionaire businessman Chief Razaq Okoya, engaging in naira abuse.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the officer’s detention for misconduct on his X handle on Friday. He described the officer’s involvement in the video as unethical and contrary to the values upheld by the police force, noting that disciplinary action is being taken.
Adejobi stated, “The policeman captured in the recent viral video shared by the sons of the Lagos businessman, Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the naira, has been identified and detained for disciplinary action. The involvement of the policeman has been condemned as it’s unethical. We will always strive hard to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police. Thanks.”
The video, which went viral last week, showed the Okoya brothers, Wahab and Raheem, abusing naira notes while promoting Raheem’s new song, "Credit Alert." Both were dressed in white agbada outfits and flaunted bundles of crisp N1000 notes as they danced, with the policeman in the background holding the money and tossing it into the air.
This incident had sparked public outcry, with many fearing that their father’s status might shield them from consequences. However, the police have taken swift action, and investigations are ongoing.
