Abdulrasheed Opeyemi, the personal assistant to Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Oladimeji, popularly known as Oladips, has clarified his management's recent announcement of the rapper's death.
According to Abdulrasheed, Oladips was erroneously declared dead by his manager, and in reality, he had been in a critical condition for three days before making a recovery.
The news of Oladips' supposed demise circulated on November 14, stating that the 'Chache' crooner had succumbed to an illness he had been battling for two years. The management released a statement mourning his passing and requesting privacy for the family during this challenging period.
In an exclusive interview with Tope Alabi on Monday, Abdulrasheed, who works with Dipsciples Music, Oladips' label, shed light on the situation. He explained there was a miscommunication with the manager, who had access to Oladips' social media accounts. The misunderstanding led everyone to believe that Oladips had passed away, as he was not breathing for three days until he was revived.
Abdulrasheed expressed his inability to reach Oladips during this critical time. When questioned about the rapper's whereabouts during the three days, he clarified that Oladips was with his family.
Furthermore, Abdulrasheed disclosed that the manager responsible for the premature announcement has been dismissed from the music outfit. While not revealing the manager's identity, he assured Oladips he would address the issue personally.
It's worth noting that Oladips established his label, Dipsciples Music, in 2019 after parting ways with LRR/Edge Records, owned by Nigerian rapper Remilekun Safaru, popularly known as Reminisce.
