The Independent National Electoral Commission assured Nigerians of free, fair, and credible elections in the November 11 governorship polls in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, gave this assurance in his message on the off-cycle governorship polls.
Yakubu noted that the commission cannot conduct credible elections alone, noting that other stakeholders must play their parts.
He also said the commission has received assurances from security agencies that the environment will be secure for electoral activities and all participants.
The INEC chairman also re-emphasized that INEC was not a political party and has no candidate in the election, as its responsibility remains to safeguard the process and ensure a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.
