The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has entered into a partnership with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) to boost the league's visibility and connect with football fans across the nation. NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye hailed the agreement as a deliberate move to elevate the profile of Nigeria’s premier football competition, both within the country and beyond its borders.
Elegbeleye underscored the synergy between the NPFL and FRCN, noting Radio Nigeria’s vast audience and storied legacy as key factors in the collaboration. He framed the partnership as an extension of the broadcaster’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Reflecting on the past, he said, “I recall the days when Radio Nigeria’s commentators infused the league with excitement and prominence. The legendary voice of Ernest Okonkwo remains unforgettable.”
Following the signing of the deal, Elegbeleye expressed enthusiasm about reviving the tradition of top-notch radio coverage. “Through this MoU, we aim to deliver the thrill of the NPFL to households, vehicles, and every football enthusiast nationwide,” he remarked. “We want Nigerians to once again relish the finest radio commentaries of our league.”
